The first week of the college football season has come and gone, and with it, the first test of up to 16 for the 2027 NFL draft class. I'm participating in CFDB's modeling competition this year, and by my math, this week was the chalkiest of the past 10 years of CFB. Not too many fun upsets then, but this seemed a much more traditional week one, with barely any excitement offered on nearly any viewing hour, and the games that really drew attention could be counted on one hand.
This is not a traditional week two though. It is already a make or break week for some prospects' draft prospects this week, and will be the most important tape out there for quite a few. Merry Texas OSU to all who celebrate.
To those of you who are new to this prospect schedule, this is a personally curated collection of matchups between draft eligible players this weekend where there are individual matchups on both sides of the ball. An example is: we all know that Drew Mestemaker might be fighting for his life against an unreal Oregon D-line and will learn more from this game than his game against Tulsa (or maybe just that he won't leave this year?). So if you say wHy is daNTe MoOre noT iN tHe LIst tHis wEEk?? I'll know you can't read.
Think of this list as a shorthand for what matchups to key in on as you quad-box up on Saturday, or to jump into first once your All-22 provider gets everything uploaded next week.
In addition, this year I will write a little about a matchup I really want to watch this weekend, and then I will write a review of both players once I have time to watch it the following week.
